Artist & Instructor
About Me
I’m Leslie Luft, a visual artist based in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where I was born and raised. I’ve had a lifelong passion for art and creativity, which I’ve pursued through a variety of artistic paths, including graphic design, production pottery, and teaching art to students of all ages.
In recent years, my focus has shifted toward sharing the joy of creativity through community-centered art experiences. I now offer Paint Parties and sell my handmade pottery at in-person art shows, with the goal of creating welcoming, hands-on opportunities for people to connect, learn, and express themselves through art.
Art Experience
2013
I graduated from high school with honors, completing Art I & II and two years of Independent Art Studies. During my senior year, I earned a Graphic Communications Certification through a local technical facility (DIISD). I continued my art education at Northern Michigan University and Bay De Noc Community College through the next several years.
2017-2020
In 2017, I began my role as Director of the Crystal Falls Contemporary Center. Within the first six months, I expanded into teaching after-school art classes and adult painting workshops. During this time, I was introduced to ceramics and, after extensive self-study, private instruction, and hundreds of hours of practice, began teaching pottery classes as well.
2020-Current
In 2020, I shifted my focus to my home studio, dedicating myself to handmade production pottery for two years. After a two-year pause due to relocation, I established a new studio space in late 2024.
In addition to studio work, I offer to host and instruct private paint parties throughout the Western Upper Penninsula area and Northern Wisconsin.
